 Stephen Olford is Founder of Olford Ministries
International and Senior Lecturer of the Stephen Olford Center for
Biblical Preaching, in Memphis, Tennessee. He is known for his
expository preaching and pastoral leadership.
Dr. Olford served as Minister of
Duke Street Baptist Church in Richmond, Surrey, England (1953-1959)
and the famed Calvary Baptist Church in New York City (1959-1973).
He is the voice of 'Encounter' radio, a weekly 30-minute program
heard throughout the United States and overseas.
In 1980 Dr. Olford founded the
Institute for Biblical Preaching to promote biblical preaching and
provide practical training for the Christian ministry. He wants to
see expository preaching restored to the pulpit, spiritual revival
in the church, mobilized evangelism in the world, and righteous and
social justice in our nation.
Dr. Olford has traveled the world
preaching the Word in crusades, conventions and centers of learning.
He holds a doctorate in theology and has been awarded a number of
honorary degrees.
As author of numerous books and
booklets, Dr. Olford has also contributed to leading periodicals on
both sides of the Atlantic. His most recent books are Not I, but
Christ, The Way of Holiness, Anointed Expository
Preaching, A Time for Truth, The Sword of
Suffering, and Windows of Wisdom.
Dr. Olford and his wife, Heather,
have two sons, Jonathan and David, both involved in full-time
Christian work.
